Opus

(2008 - 2011)

Opus Online was an Estonian web-development company founded in 2010 and grown out of Exact. Initially, the company worked on PHP development and CRM, and after a successful online store for Rahva Raamat it expanded into e-commerce. Over time, Opus became a developer of complex web services, CRMs, online stores and self-service systems.

Opus was founded by Andre Lall, together with Ivo Kund and Margus Lamp, who were key people in the company during its early years.

At the end of 2020, Opus joined Uptime Group, retaining its own culture and autonomy while gaining access to additional expertise and international projects.

    • Rovio.com - public website for the Angry Birds company
    • Elisa.ee - mobile services, online store and CMS, product comparison and roaming
    • Pling.ee - mobile social network: SMS gateway, user feed, friends, groups and Android app
    • Laenuvaidlus.ee - analysis of violations of credit legislation, business rules, PDF export and digital signatures

Gained experience with MongoDB, Yii framework, Pivotal Tracker, Android application development (Java + Eclipse), PHPStorm, basic Ubuntu and Bash.

Introduced unit testing with PHPUnit, Selenium Grid for automated tests across multiple operating systems, and Jenkins CI.

Projects

Name Description
⭐️ Pling.ee Youth social network similar to Twitter/Facebook, with free communication through SMS/MMS and phone-based location detection. Complex aggregation and filtering, Selenium automated tests, social-network synchronization, XML API and Android app. Used the project as the basis for my master's thesis.
⭐️ Rovio.com Website for the Finnish company that released the best-known mobile game: site integration, XML data import and careers module.
Edream Centralized hotel-registration service, including mycityhotel.ee.
Uncram.com Startup, social network with deep browser integration, MongoDB and Amazon/RightScale scaling. Implemented authentication through Facebook/Twitter/Google and contact-list copying.
Elisa.ee International telecom operator (mobile communications, internet and TV). Integrated the main site's design, refactored key modules, worked on roaming modules (XML import and table), and significantly improved the domains and shop modules. Set up a continuous-integration server.
Elisa mint Frontend panel for managing wireless internet (starting/ending sessions and payments). Integrated the design, payments and communication with backend services.
Efis Estonian film database. Complex autocomplete and social-network authentication.
FU info Website about Finno-Ugric peoples, basic integration.
Danske Pank Campaign website promoting a pension program. Built a small registration form with validation.
Skano International furniture company. Integrated a furniture planner built in Flash with the backend and fixed bugs on the official and related sites.
Puhastaja Kaubamaja Shop for cleaning products. Built a large two-way synchronization with Hansaworld (accounting/warehouse, with unit tests), as well as part of the shop module and user settings with multiple roles and privileges.
